The WH Canon Landscape Company was established in 1993 by Bill Canon as a full service landscape construction company. Working from a small office with a handful of staff, the company succeeded and grew because of an unwavering commitment to excellence. Early projects included Maya Lin’s Rosa Parks Circle in Grand Rapids and the Wave Field at the University of Michigan.
Through hard work, the company continued to grow and was awarded numerous large, high profile projects including a complete restoration of Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Complex restoration. By 2001 the company outgrew the original office and in January 2002 WH Canon Landscape Company moved into the current location in Romulus, Michigan.
Since 2002 WH Canon Landscape Company has remained the region’s leading landscape contractor with an impressive portfolio of work including the Mall at Partridge Creek, DTE Energy Campus, MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, and the Kresge Foundation.
As the company evolved, its services expanded from construction to include landscape architecture, maintenance and a wide variety of special services. Landscape Management magazine has recognized the company as one of Top 100 Landscape Companies several times.
Many of the company’s projects have received awards from PLANET, Michigan Green Industry Association, Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association and ASLA Michigan Chapter.
In November of 2011 the founder and president of WH Canon Landscape Company, William Canon, passed away after a short battle with cancer. His knowledge, leadership and gregarious nature will be missed greatly.
Patricia Canon, William’s wife, became sole owner after William’s death and continues to lead the company as CEO.
In late 2020, WH Canon joined the DJ’s Landscape Management team! WH Canon will continue to provide landscape construction services, but now with the added customer support and solutions of Michigan’s premier landscape maintenance and snow removal company.
The clients of WH Canon Landscape Company include dozens of Fortune 1000 companies and range from automotive and industrial leaders to healthcare providers, major universities, municipalities, sports complexes and retail centers.

The management, estimating and contract administration staff have the requisite experience to execute any landscape construction or maintenance project. The staff of 200+ employees includes registered landscape architects, LEED accredited professionals, certified landscape technicians, nurserymen, arborists, and pesticide applicators.
