PORTFOLIO: GREENFIELD VILLAGE

In September of 2002, the 80 acre Greenfield Village closed for a 9 month complete historic restoration.  Electrical lines, storm sewers, road construction, and landscaping were all performed simultaneously during the short project schedule.  To install pavers through the winter, WH Canon managed six shade houses, each equipped with ground heaters to create suitable conditions for laying 3.5 acres of hardscape.  In 9 months WH Canon installed 800 new trees, 5,000 shrubs, 42,000 perennials, 16 acres of seed and sod and moved 6 mature hand dug trees and 250 spade trees.  In the final weeks WH Canon concluded the renovation by building nearly 2 miles of historically accurate and new fencing.
